Public Transit Advisory Committee to discuss JEFFTRAN changes

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo (KMIZ)

On Friday, Jefferson City's Public Transit Advisory Committee is set to meet at city hall at 1:30 p.m. to discuss some recent changes for JEFFTRAN.

JEFFTRAN has recently increased its ride fares and will combine its bus routes.

On Monday, changes made to the JEFFTRAN bus fare and bus routes went into effect.

In January, Jefferson City City Council voted 6 to 3 to increase the JEFFTRAN bus fare by at least 50%. During that same meeting, council members Jack Deeken and Mike Lester expressed that the possibility of a drop in rider numbers was not worth the $60,000 the price increase could bring in.

JEFFTRAN also shared in a press release that it has also condensed its bus route due to a driver shortage according to the city.

The Green (High St. East) route and Gold (High St. West) route will alternate, forming one combined route.

The Black (Capitol Mall) and Orange (Missouri Blvd.) routes will alternate, forming one combined route.

The Blue (Southwest) route and Red (Business 50 East) route will alternate, forming one combined route.

The buses will now operate at 80-minute intervals instead of 40 minutes. A schedule of the adjusted system can be found on JEFFTRAN.ORG
