The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services announced on Thursday that recreational marijuana sales could start in some places as early as Friday.

But in some places, such as Columbia, the wait will be a few more days while local rules are established.

Some people still oppose legalization altogether, citing crime and public health concerns.
