Man drowns in lake near Branson as holiday weekend begins

TANEY COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a man drowned Friday night in Rockaway Beach, Missouri.

According to boat and drowning incident reports, Frankie Mills, 50, fell from a boat dock into Lake Taneycomo.

Mills was pronounced dead shortly after 11 p.m.

The drowning death is the first during the 2020 Memorial Day weekend. According to MSHP, there were no drownings during the 2019 holiday weekend. However, there were seven boat crashes which resulted in two fatalities.

MSHP will have all available troopers monitoring traffic and boaters through Monday night.
