COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The City of Eldon announced on Tuesday that the boil order that it has been under for three weeks has been lifted.

The city made the announcement in a social media post that the Department of Natural Resources lifted the order after it determined water samples taken on Saturday and Sunday determined the city’s water is now safe to drink.

Water in the city tested positive for E. coli and total coliform bacteria in samples taken on Dec. 16. The DNR’s website showed the boil order was issued the next day.

Residents were left without usable drinking water and events were set up during that period to distribute bottled water.
