Person rescued from Osage River island when water rises

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Firefighters rescued a person after he was stranded on an Osage River island Monday.

Lake Ozark Fire Protection District firefighters were sent to a call of a "male patient" stranded on Bell Island with a UTV after the water began to rise, the fire district said in a news release. Firefighters launched a rescue boat and found the victim uninjured.

He was taken back to his parents at a nearby campground, the fire district said. The fire department and Missouri State Highway Patrol then took the UTV back to the campground.
