Inmate found dead at Miller County Jail

TUSCUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A death investigation is underway after a detained man was found dead Friday morning at the Miller County Jail, according to a press release from the Miller County Sheriff’s Office.

Daniel James Ault, of Brumley, was found dead at the jail. He was 52. The sheriff’s office said in the release Ault may have died by suicide.

Ault was charged with possession of child pornography and failure to register as a sex offender. Ault was arrested Wednesday, according to online jail records. An arraignment was scheduled for 9 a.m. Wednesday, May 3.

An autopsy is being conducted at the Boone County Medical Examiner’s Office, according to the release. The investigation is being conducted by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
