Human remains found in Miller County woods

TUSCUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Human remains were found Monday in a wooded area of Miller County.

Sheriff's deputies were called to the area a little after 3 p.m. on a report of human bones found in the woods, the Miller County Sheriff's Office said in a news release. The deputies then found skeletal remains.

The person's age, gender, how they died and how long they had been in the woods was not known Tuesday, the sheriff's office said. The body was sent to the Boone County Medical Examiner's Office, the sheriff's office said.

More information will be released after the body is identified and next of kin are notified, the sheriff's office said.
