Teen boy hurt when hit by truck in Mexico

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A 15-year-old boy was hurt when he ran in front of a utility truck while crossing the road Thursday afternoon in Mexico, Missouri.

The boy was crossing the road in the 800 block of West Liberty Street and did not see an approaching utility truck, according to the Mexico Department of Public Safety. The truck driver, Darin Knipp, 47, of Mexico, was unable to avoid the teen, police say.

The boy was taken by ambulance to University Hospital in Columbia with injuries that were not life-threatening. Police say the road was closed for about 45 minutes.
