Multiple charges filed against Mexico man after child abuse investigation

MEXICO, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Mexico man is facing multiple charges after a child abuse investigation began in Nov. 2020.

According to a probable cause statement, the victim walked-in to the Mexico Public Safety Department asking for help to contact his mother.

Detective Tylor Bounds saw bruising on the victim and asked about it. The victim said that Raymond Nelson used a belt on him numerous times. Nelson allegedly hit the victim, causing the victim to fall and Nelson kept hitting the victim with the belt according to court records.

Nelson then pushed the victim into the fridge and hit him in the face with the belt according to court records.

Nelson is charged with abuse or neglect of a child, 1st-degree endangering the welfare of a child, armed criminal action, 2nd-degree domestic assault and 1st-degree harassment.

The court did not issued bond to Nelson.
