COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Two people were seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash in Miller County late Monday night.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2017 Lincoln MKX driven by Austin Oberreither, 22, was traveling east at a high rate of speed on Highway 52 west of Admire Road at 11:55 p.m.

The vehicle then traveled off the right side of the road, began to skid and hit a tree, according to online crash reports.

Oberreither was seriously injured and flown to University Hospital. His passenger, Maggie Stephens, 19, was taken to Lake Regional Hospital by ambulance with serious injuries.

Stephens was wearing a seatbelt and Oberreither was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, Troopers said.

The Lincoln MKX was totaled in the crash.
