Over 300 students to graduate from Columbia College Saturday during commencement 

COLUMBIA, Mo (KMIZ)

Graduation season is here and Columbia College is starting its graduation activities Friday ahead of their commencement ceremonies Saturday.

Columbia College will first hold its Ivy Chain Ceremony at Bass Commons on the main campus at 3:00 p.m. Friday afternoon. Graduating students will stand in a circle on Bass Commons with faux ivy that they can keep as a reminder of their lifelong connection.

According to Columbia College, the Ivy Chain Ceremony is the oldest commencement tradition at Columbia College and has been an annual event since 1900.

The second ceremony will be the Nurses’ Pinning Ceremony at 6:30 p.m. Friday night at Launer Auditorium. The university said 40 nursing students (24 BSN, 16 ASN) will receive their pins at this ceremony.

Columbia College will have two commencement ceremonies Saturday, April 29. 312 students will graduate, representing 10 different countries. Each ceremony is expected to last approximately an hour and 15 minutes.

The first commencement ceremony will take place at 10:00 a.m. at the Southwell Complex, where 193 students will graduate from the Robert W. Plaster School of Business and School of Natural Sciences & Mathematics.

That commencement will be followed by the commencement for the School of Humanities, Arts & Social Sciences at 1:30 p.m. 119 students will graduate during this ceremony.
