Authorities search for missing person at Rocky Fork Lakes Conservation Area

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Boone County Fire District and Boone County Sheriff's Office are searching the Rocky Fork Lakes Conservation Area in Columbia on Sunday, for a person who went missing while fishing.

Search and rescue teams told ABC 17 News crews they arrived at the state park around 4:45 p.m. to respond to a missing person's call. First responders said a person had been missing for nearly two hours before authorities arrived at the scene.

ABC 17 crews saw authorities using a drone over the lake, two fire trucks from Boone County Fire Protection District, a Boone County Sheriff's deputy on scene, and a Boone County EMS truck and a search and rescue boat.

Authorities said the Missouri State Highway Patrol has been dispatched to the scene.

Crews saw officers searching a car parked at the lake where the person is believed to have gone missing.

First responders left the scene around 9 p.m. and told ABC 17 Crews they will be back Monday morning at around 8 a.m. to continue the search.

At this time the man has not been located.
