Missouri State Highway Patrol releases reports on Friday boat explosions

MORGAN, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports for those boat explosions Friday are now available.

According to the report, the explosion in Morgan County happened when one boat was fueling at Milestone Marina gas docks and someone started the boat causing it to explode. Three people were ejected when the boat exploded.

The Friday boat explosion injured 16 people at the Lake of the Ozarks, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Troop F spokesman Cpl. Kyle Green said the explosion happened around 4:30 p.m. while the boat was being fueled at the Millstone Marina. Investigators believe improper ventilation likely sparked the explosion. The patrol said Friday the injuries ranged from minor to moderate. Fifteen of the people hurt were on the boat and the other person was on the dock.

Another explosion in Camden County happened in the same way. The occupants were able to exit the boat, according to the report. The incident report shows it happened at the 12.9 mile mark of the Osage Arm in Wideford Hollow Cove.

The report said the explosion happened while the boat was being fueled. Two 55-year-old men were hurt. The driver was treated at the scene. The passenger was taken by ambulance to Lake Regional Hospital with moderate injuries.
