Boat explosion injures 16 people at the Lake of the Ozarks

MORGAN COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A boat explosion injured 16 people at the Lake of the Ozarks on Friday, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Troop F spokesman Cpl. Kyle Green said the explosion happened around 4:30 p.m. while the boat was being fueled at the Millstone Marina. Investigators believe improper ventilation likely sparked the explosion.

The patrol said the injuries ranged from minor to moderate. Fifteen of the people hurt were on the boat and the other person was on the dock.

A separate boat explosion happened around 3:15 p.m. in Camden County. An incident report shows it happened at the 12.9 mile mark of the Osage Arm in Wideford Hollow Cove.

The report said the explosion happened while the boat was being fueled. Two 55-year-old men were hurt. The driver was treated at the scene. The passenger was taken by ambulance to Lake Regional Hospital with moderate injuries.
