Jefferson City man dies in jet ski crash at Lake of the Ozarks

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Jefferson City man died Wednesday after his jet ski went airborne on the Lake of the Ozarks.

Russell Rauba, 62, was riding his Kawasaki in the main channel in Camden County a little after noon when the jet ski hit a wake and went airborne, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report. Rauba landed on the jet ski when they came back down, slid off and lost consciousness, the patrol says.

He was pronounced dead at Lake Regional Hospital.

Rauba's death is the sixth boating death this year in the patrol's Troop F, which covers much of Mid-Missouri. It is the second this month, the patrol reported.
