Kentucky man drowns at the Lake of the Ozarks

A 29-year-old Kentucky man drowned at the Lake of the Ozarks on Saturday afternoon.

According to an incident report, it happened at the 4 mile mark of the Grand Glaize Arm in Anderson Hollow Cove around 4:15 p.m.

Troopers said Tyler Elliot jumped off of the boat into the water and didn't resurface. The report said he was impaired and had "diminished swimming capabilities."

His body was found Monday, according to Cpl. Kyle Green. Troopers said he was not wearing a life jacket.

Troopers also responded to several other incidents at the Lake of the Ozarks over the holiday weekend.

Two teenagers suffered minor injuries Sunday night after two jet skis crashed in Lynch Hollow Cove just before 6 p.m.

A woman was also flown to a hospital in Columbia with serious injuries after a tubing accident. That happened at the 10.6 mile mark of the Grand Glaize Arm on Saturday afternoon around 4:25 p.m.

Troopers also investigated incidents on the water in other parts of the state during the Labor Day weekend.

On Sunday afternoon, a 21-year-old man drowned in Ozark County. According to an incident report, it happened at the North Fork of the White River at Hammond Camp. Troopers said Ryan McGee waded into deep water, went under and did not resurface.

A 62-year-old Independence man suffered moderate injuries at Truman Lake on Saturday after his jet ski hit a wake. Troopers said the man was thrown from the jet ski and hit his head.

A 22-year-old woman was injured at Table Rock Lake in Taney County Sunday night after the Tahoe Runabout boat she was riding in hit a wake. Troopers said she fell in the boat. EMS crews took her to a Branson hospital with moderate injuries.

In total, troopers have responded to six incidents so far during the holiday weekend. Two people have drowned and five others have been hurt in boating crashes.

During the 2021 Labor Day weekend, troopers reported nine boating crashes with one death and four injuries. Troopers did not respond to any drownings last year.
