LAKE OF THE OZARKS, Mo. (KMIZ)

An Illinois man was killed after a boating incident at the Lake of the Ozarks on Wednesday.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said the man, Craig Gathmann, 55, of Mainto, Il., died after being struck by an anchor.

According to the patrol's report, Gathmann was operating a 1998 Four Winns 240 Horizon near the 19.5 mile marker on the main channel of the lake around 5 p.m.

Troopers said the boat's anchor was in the water but tension from the rope attached to it caused the anchor to come out of the water and hit the man.

The report said a doctor at Lake Regional Hospital pronounced Gathmann dead at 7:04 p.m.

Troopers said Sunrise Beach firefighers also responded to the incident.
