Open burning season in Jefferson City ends Saturday

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Open burning season in Jefferson City ends on Saturday.

The burning period runs from Nov. 1-March 1, according to a Thursday press release from the city. During that period, residents are allowed to burn yard waste from sunrise to sunset.

The release says after burning season ends, recreational fires are allowed if these conditions are met:

  • Only cut or split wood may be burned.
  • Yard waste disposal is not allowed in recreational fires.
  • Fires must be attended at all times.
  • Fires must be contained in a fire pit or outdoor fireplace.

Yard waste can also be dropped off at 708 Ellis Boulevard, the release says.
