COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A crafting store chain that's in financial trouble will close one of its Mid-Missouri stories, according to a list published Wednesday.

Joann's store at 3600 Country Club Drive in Jefferson City is among about 500 locations the chain is closing. It wasn't clear when the store will close.

Not on the list is the Joann store at 509 E. Nifong Blvd. Other stores in Missouri that will close are in Independence, Belton, St. Joseph, Ballwin and Crystal City.

Joann is going through Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings and has vowed to keep some of its stores open during the proceedings.

"A careful analysis of store performance and future strategic fit for the Company determined with stores should remain operating as usual at this time," the company wrote in a statement. "Right-sizing our store footprint is a critical part of our efforts to ensure the best path forward for JOANN."
