Another candidate files in Jefferson City Ward 4 race
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Fourth Ward Jefferson City Council race for the April 8 election will be contested.
Kathryn Harness filed to run for the open seat at 2:30 p.m. Friday, according to filing information from the city. She will run against Julie Allen, who filed on Tuesday. Candidate filings for election in non-charter cities closes on Tuesday, Dec. 31.
The Ward 4 seat is currently held by Derrick Spicer, who told ABC 17 News earlier this month that he does not intend to seek reelection. Spicer said he plans on running for a state senate seat in 2026.
According to information from the city, the following people filed to run in city elections
- Ward 1: Incumbent Jeff Ahlers
- Ward 2: Incumbent Aaron Mealy
- Ward 3: Derek Thomas
- Ward 4: Julie Allen and Kathryn Harness
- Ward 5: Shane Kempeter
Municipal Judge Scott Evans filed for reelection, as did City Prosecutor Gaylin Carver.
