Julie Allen announces intent to run for Ward 4 Jefferson City Council seat

Julie Allen has announced her intent to run for the Fourth Ward Jefferson City Council seat that is up for grabs in the April 8 election.

Allen announced in a press release that she plans on running for the seat currently held by Councilman Derrick Spicer, who told ABC 17 News that he does not intend to seek reelection. Spicer said he plans on running for a state senate seat in 2026.

Candidates can begin officially filing for the April 8 election on Dec. 10.

Allen said in the release that her campaign will focus on economic growth, infrastructure and public safety.

Allen currently serves on the Jefferson City Transportation and Traffic commission. Her release says that she is also a Cole County Extension Council Member, a First United Methodist Church volunteer and a JC Chamber of Commerce Workforce Development, Government Relations and Women's Symposium committee member.

The release says she is a certified public accountant and certified project management professional. She also holds a master’s degree in public affairs, the release says.
