Jefferson City Public Works director to retire after 22 years

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Jefferson City Public Works Director Matt Morasch will retire after 22 years, according to a Tuesday press release from the city.

Morasch’s last day will be Friday, Dec. 6. The city wrote in the release that it will begin the process of picking Morasch’s successor soon.

Morasch has held multiple roles within the city, including deputy director of community development for public works and public works director. He’s held the director position since 2013, according to his biography on the city’s website.

"I have enjoyed being part of the City and contributing to its success over the years," Morasch said in the release. "I am looking forward to spending more time with my family in retirement.”

His biography states that he graduated from the University of Missouri in 1993 with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. He has also held positions with the Hamilton County Indiana Highway Department, City of Lee’s Summit Missouri Public Works Department and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, the city’s website says.
