JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Jefferson City this week hired a contractor to clean up its yard waste site.

Contractors from St. Louis forestry disposal company AgriCycle have been working with Jefferson City since Tuesday, according to city documents.

The waste site is free to Jefferson City residents and accepts yard waste like tree limbs, grass clippings and wood chips.

According to the city's contracts with Agricycle, the company plans to grind and haul off brush, yard waste and wood waste from the site. The location where the waste will be hauled is still unclear. The total cost of services will not exceed $50,000.

AgriCycle says it is an industry leader in eco-friendly wood waste reduction and recycling. AgriCycle's parent company, St. Louis Composting, recycles the wood waste from AgriCycle's contracts and turns it into usable mulch.

AgriCycle has a large fleet of grinders and excavators that allow travel across the region.
