Parson orders Capitol dome to light up red and gold to support Chiefs’ Super Bowl run

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Gov. Mike Parson on Friday ordered the Missouri Capitol to be lit red and gold, according to a press release from the governor’s office.

The dome will be lit through Sunday in support of the Kansas City Chiefs as they play in the Super Bowl. The Chiefs play the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday in Las Vegas.

"On this Red Friday, the state of Missouri and fans all over Chiefs Kingdom are once again celebrating our Kansas City Chiefs making it to the Super Bowl," Parson said in the release. "As the 57th Governor of Missouri, we were fortunate enough to watch our Chiefs win Super Bowl 57, and we look forward to watching them run it back for a repeat at Super Bowl 58. We're proud to call the Kansas City Chiefs Missouri's team, and on behalf of the state of Missouri and all of Chiefs Kingdom, our Capitol will be lighted red and gold as our team seeks another Super Bowl win." 

Parson will meet with California Gov. Gavin Newsom before the game to exchange gifts, the release states. The governors plan to exchange signed Super Bowl memorabilia to be auctioned off, the release states.
