JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A storage building fire melted siding on a Jefferson City house early Tuesday.

Firefighters were called to the house in the 1700 block of Independence Drive at about 5:30 a.m. Tuesday. A storage building near the house was on fire when they arrived, the Jefferson City Fire Department said in a news release.

Everyone made it out of the house but the storage building was destroyed, the release says. The home suffered exterior heat damage.

Firefighters didn't say how the blaze began but urged residents to use caution with outdoor heaters. The cause is under investigation but officials believe it was accidental.
