Five businesses fail alcohol compliance checks in Jefferson City

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Alcohol compliance checks were conducted Thursday evening in Jefferson City.

Members of the Jefferson City Police Department, the Missouri Division of Alcohol and Tobacco Control and the Jefferson City Council for Drug Free Youth conducted the checks at various businesses throughout the city.

Five-out-of-14 businesses failed to properly identify underage purchasers, according to a press release from JCPD. The underage purchaser must present their actual identification if the clerk requests, the release states.

Violations occurred at:

  • We B Smokin’, 2215 Missouri Blvd. This is the sixth time a compliance check has been conducted at this business and they have failed each time, according to the release.
  • Eagle Stop, 1913 Southwest Blvd.
  • Jack Flash, 910 S. Country Club Dr.
  • Breaktime, 3000 W. Truman Blvd.
  • Cenex, 3505 Missouri Blvd

The offending clerks were issued a citation to appear in municipal court for selling alcohol to a minor. The Division of Alcohol and Tobacco will take further action against the businesses, depending on the number of previous violations.
