JCPD conducting death investigation after person hit by train

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Jefferson City Police Department announced in a Wednesday press release that is conducting a death investigation after a male was hit by a train Tuesday morning.

The name of the person who died has not been named. Authorities found him near the railroad tracks, according to the release.

The release states at 7:55 a.m. Tuesday, the Jefferson City Communications center received a call referencing a subject had been struck by a train in the area of Riverview Drive and Wind River Drive. That area is not frequented by pedestrians, according to the release.

Rail traffic was restricted for approximately two hours while emergency personnel and investigators from Union Pacific were on scene, the release states.
