Two people hurt in five-vehicle crash in Jefferson City

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Two people had minor injuries reported following a Wednesday morning crash near Highway 50 east of the Missouri Boulevard intersection.

Police responded at 8:02 a.m. The crash caused the eastbound lanes to close for about 30 minutes.

Police said a black 2013 Hyundai Azera – driven by Herman Hopsin Jr., 33, of Jefferson City -- was going westbound and hit the back of a blue 2007 Dodge Ram pickup truck, driven by Heath Holleman, 37, of Jefferson City.

The impact caused the Dodge to go over the median and hit a black 2015 GMC Yukon – driven by Tommi Campbell, 34, of Belle.

The Dodge then hit a blue 2013 Ford Fusion that was behind the GMC, and was driven by Melissa Brown, 18. That hit then caused the Ford to be pushed into the front of a silver 2020 Chevrolet Traverse -- driven by Ashlee Scnieders, 27, of Freeburg.

Campbell and Brown had minor injuries, according to Jefferson City police. Brown was taken to an area hospital by ambulance and was released.
