Jefferson City, Lake of the Ozarks participate in DWI awareness for Labor Day

KMIZ

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Jefferson City Police Department's "drive sober or get pulled over" campaign is underway this weekend, and Missouri State Highway Patrol is also having a DWI saturation event.

It kicked off yesterday and lasts through labor day. There will also be extra officers out next Saturday to look for intoxicated drivers.

The extra officers working the campaign will be paid with money from mo-dot grants.

And troopers are cracking down on drunk driving at the Lake of the Ozarks. DWI saturations are happening this and next weekend at the lake in Camden and Miller counties during various parts of the day.

Troopers say this is in an effort to decrease the number of people killed in crashes.
