JEFFERSON CITY, Mo, (KMIZ)

The closure of the Highway 63 ramp onto westbound Highway 54 in north Jefferson City has been pushed back to Wednesday.

The ramp from southbound 63 to westbound 54 was first slated to close Tuesday. However, the Missouri Department of Transportation said in a news release that the closure will now begin after the morning commute.

The closure will last about two weeks and drivers will be detoured along eastbound 54 to Summit Drive, where they can get on westbound 54, MoDOT says. The closure is needed to rehabilitate the bridge over Oilwell Road, the agency says. The work is part of a larger project to repair bridges along Highway 63 from Route B to Highway 54.

Work could be delayed by weather. Heavy rain is expected in Mid-Missouri from Monday night into Tuesday.
