Two pulled from Missouri River at Jefferson City access

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Two people were pulled from the Missouri River at the Noren access point Wednesday, according to Jefferson City firefighters.

The two were in a tandem kayak before they needed rescue, firefighters said.

Fire crews deployed one rescue boat with four personnel during the rescue.

One person was taken by ambulance to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A man at the scene who identified himself as the kayakers' friend said the two were training for a race.

The Jefferson City Fire Department was assisted on this incident by the Jefferson City Police Department, Callaway County EMS, Cole County EMS, and the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
