Jefferson City police respond to bomb threat at local transformer factory

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Jefferson City police responded to the Hitachi ABB Power Grids plant on W. Highway 94 Wednesday night on a report of a bomb threat, department spokesman Lt. David Williams said.

Williams said in an email on Thursday morning that officers followed departmental protocols for such bomb threat investigations and that authorities were on-scene for two hours.

Hitachi ABB spokesman Kurt Steinert said in a release a note containing the threat was found inside the facility and police were contacted immediately at that time.

He included that no explosives were found inside the plant as of 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

The company and the police department have opened an investigation into the incident, Steinert said.
