Police investigate reported armed robbery in Jefferson City

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Jefferson City Police Department is investigating a report of an armed robbery.

According to a news release, it happened before 4:30 a.m. Tuesday near Panera Bread on Missouri Boulevard.

The victim, a restaurant employee, told police that two men approached him with a gun and demanded he let them inside the store.

Investigators said when the men realized the worker did not have the keys to get inside, they demanded his wallet and other items and left the area.

The victim was not injured.

Police said they brought a K-9 to the scene and the dog was able to track the suspects to a local parking lot before losing the trail.
