Fire damages Jefferson City duplex

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Two families were displaced after a duplex caught fire in Jefferson City on Friday night.

Crews were dispatched to a building in the 2100 block of Clara Drive around 6:30 p.m.

Members of the Jefferson City Fire Department and Jefferson City Police Department were at the scene. One ambulance also responded but fire officials said no one was hurt.

Fire officials said they arrived at the scene to find a fire in the attic burning through the roof.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. According to a news release, investigators believe the fire started outside of the home "in some belongings located near an exterior wall."

The Red Cross is assisting the affected families.
