JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Jefferson City home suffered heavy smoke damage and a person there was evaluated for minor smoke inhalation Wednesday night, the Jefferson City Fire Department said.

Firefighters were called to the 2400 block of Park Crest Drive at about 8:30 p.m. to find fire in the garage and heavy smoke throughout the house, the department said in a news release.

The department said firefighters extinguished the blaze quickly but the garage had significant fire damage and the house suffered major smoke damage.

Firefighters were at the scene for about two hours. The investigation is ongoing.

Medics evaluated an occupant of the home for minor smoke inhalation at the scene.
