Collapsed wall on High Street to be demolished on Wednesday

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Demolition crews started to tear down a partially collapsed wall at 200 E. High St. Wednesday morning.

Jefferson City Public Works spokesman Britt Smith said crews worked Monday and Tuesday preparing the building for destruction.

Smith told ABC 17 News that workers removed material from the roof of the structure to expose the support beams.

The Jefferson City Council approved $186,000 to pay for the demolition. The city will own the property at 200 E. High St. after the building is removed.

Crews blocked off parts of High Street and Madison Street near the demolition site. The total project could last up to three to four weeks.
