JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Jefferson City authorities have released the name of the woman who died Sunday night in a house fire.

Carla K. Palmero, 60, died en route to University Hospital after the fire at 1016 Laurel Drive in Jefferson City, the Jefferson City Fire Department said in a news release. The fire broke out shortly after 6 p.m.

Firefighters found Palmero while searching the home, the fire department said.

Cole County EMS director Matt Lindewirth told ABC 17 News on Sunday that a patient was in cardiac arrest when she was pulled from the house. Medical teams were able to get a pulse at Capital Region Medical Center but she went back into cardiac arrest while being transferred to University Hospital. She never regained a pulse, Lindewirth said.

The fire department in its release Monday did not say what caused the fire or whether the investigation continued.
