COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Rotary Club in Columbia is hosting a turkey fry this Thanksgiving to benefit several local initiatives.

The club is expected to fry 300 turkeys for the Thanksgiving holiday.

The turkey fry will benefit multiple organizations in Columbia, including the Columbia Fire Department, Voluntary Action Center, Ronald McDonald House, St. Francis House and Everybody Eats.

They will be out frying turkeys from 4 a.m. until noon on Thanksgiving. The group also fried 126 turkeys Wednesday from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m.

The Rotary Club gave 40 of Wednesday's turkeys to local nonprofits. The other 86 were sold to community members to fund rotary club projects.

Volunteers will be wearing masks and practicing social distancing.
