WHAT’S GOING AROUND: Cases of influenza and COVID-19 hanging on

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Here is a roundup of the illnesses doctors say are spreading around Mid-Missouri.

Boone Health in Columbia

Dr. Robin Blount with Boone Health in Columbia says they are seeing an increase in influenza.

Blount said Missouri is now in the high range of flu activity nationally. Since November, Blount says the number of patients requiring respiratory isolation has increased significantly.

Blount says Boone Health's inpatient count shows equal numbers of flu and COVID-19 infections.

MU Health Care facilities

Dr. Laura Morris with MU Health Care says they continue to see influenza Type A and B.

Morris says that while COVID-19 is still also present it appears to have plateaued. RSV is declining, Morris said, which is a typical seasonal trend.

Morris wants to remind you, especially those 65 and older, to get an additional dose of the latest COVID-19 vaccine this spring, as the virus will likely continue to circulate through the spring and even into the summer.

Over the last week, the Jefferson City Medical Group in Fulton says they have seen increased cases of both influenza and digestive illnesses.
