Hallsville School Board approves four-day week

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Hallsville School District will move to a four-day week starting next school year.

The board approved 4-2 a move to a four-day week from a standard five-day calendar Wednesday night, the district said Thursday. One board member was absent.

The school district requested feedback from students, families, and staff through a survey sent out earlier this month. According to the survey, more than 50% of parents of current students preferred the switch.

The school district also received feedback from nearly 200 employees. According to the data, more than 66% of staff are in favor of a four-day school week.

The calendar approved Wednesday will lengthen school days by 15 minutes, according to board documents.
