City of Fulton selected as a finalist for the All-American City Award through the National Civic League
FULTON, Mo. (KMIZ)
City leaders from Fulton are in Denver Colorado as Fulton is one of the 19 finalists selected for the All-American City Award through the National Civic League.
Fulton has the chance to be selected as one of the ten winners after the conference Sunday night.
The All-American City Award recognizes the work of communities to address critical issues and improve connections among its community members and leaders.
According to the event information the theme this year is "creating thriving communities through youth engagement", which recognizes communities that are working to improve the health and well being of young people with particular attention to efforts that engage young people in this work.
In a press release, the City of Fulton said one of its main focuses was presenting the city in the best light to the judges.
In their application for the award for the 2023 year, Fulton says they highlighted three community projects they completed in the last five years.
The projects included the refugee resettlement where the city of Fulton helped six families with four remaining in Fulton.
The local lemon project was held over the summer in 2022 where Fulton youth were taught business skills by creating and operating their own lemonade stands.
The Legends Rec Plex project which highlighted the constriction of the building and the facility's new after school program.
The City of Fulton said in a press release they are proud to be a finalist and will continue to seek opportunities to show what the community does.
If Fulton wins the All-American City Award, it will be the 19th Missouri city to receive the award since the 1950's.
