FULTON, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Callaway County prosecutor has charged a Fulton man with animal neglect after an investigation began in early December.

Thomas Schneider is charged with three counts of animal neglect.

A witness told deputies that there was a dead dog in a bedroom at a residence on the 5300 block of County Road 204 in Callaway County. The witness said there were two other dogs in the house.

The deputy reported going to the house and not being able to contact anyone but did see the dead dog. The deputy then got a search warrant for the residence and found two more dogs that were thin.

After the dogs were seized, the two dogs were considered thin, had worms and fleas.

Schneider has an initial court appearance scheduled for Friday.
