Callaway County building considered total loss after fire, cause not yet known

CALLAWAY COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A building caught fire Tuesday night near the intersection of County Roads 2000 and 293 in Callaway County.

No one was in the residence when the fire started and no injuries were reported, according North Callaway Fire Protection District Chief Matthew Walton. The building was considered a complete loss.

Walton said the cause of the fire is not yet known.

Trees around the area appeared to also have fire on them when ABC 17 News arrived.

Gale Blomenkamp, of the Boone County Fire Protection District, told ABC 17 News in a text message at 8:24 p.m. that firefighters saw heavy fire coming from the building when they arrived.

BCFPD other agencies -- including Audrain County and Millersburg -- assisted the North Callaway Fire Protection District at the scene. At least 20 firefighters were at the scene.
