COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

No injuries were reported in a garage fire Monday afternoon in the 9800 block of Audrain County Road 421, according to a press release from the Little Dixie Fire Protection District.

Crews were called at 4:34 p.m. for a fire in a detached garage, which took about 10 minutes to bring under control, the release says. About $10,000 in damage was reported to the carport and lawn care equipment, the release says.

The fire was caused by unattended burning trash in the front yard of the home that spread to leaves near the garage, the release says.

“The Little Dixie Fire Protection District reminds residents to never leave outdoor fires unattended and always have a method of extinguishment readily available while burning,” the release says.
