Elderly man found dead near Callaway County fire
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
An elderly man was found dead Monday afternoon in Callaway County, according to a social media post from the Callaway County Sheriff’s Office.
The post states that Callaway County Joint Communications was called at 2:52 p.m. for a possible unattended fire in the 1000 block of County Road 1027. The North Callaway Fire Department responded along with Montgomery County and South Callaway fire departments, the post says.
The post says that deputies were called by firefighters at 3:33 p.m., who said an elderly man was found dead. The post says he died while tending to the fire and that no foul play is suspected. The name and age of the man were not released.
The investigation is ongoing, the post says.
