No injuries reported in duplex fire north of Columbia
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
No injuries reported in a duplex fire on Thursday night in the 700 block of West Cunningham Road, north of Columbia.
Boone County firefighters were called to the home at 8:26 p.m. for a report of a house fire, according to dispatch logs.
The fire could be seen on the roof when first responders arrived, Boone County Fire Protection District Assistant Chief Gale Blomenkamp.
Blomenkamp said the fire was under control within minutes and that most of the damage was done to the roof and attic. The cause of the fire has not yet been revealed and damage estimates are not yet determined.
An ABC 17 News reporter saw five fire vehicles and three law enforcement vehicles on the scene.
Blomenkamp said there was no one living in the unit where the fire occurred and it appears to be used as a space to work. The fire did not spread to any other unit in the area, Blomenkamp said. One person was working when the fire occurred and had to be informed by a neighbor to get out of the duplex, Blomekamp said.
A message from Boone County Joint Communications from 8:50 p.m. indicates North Wade School Road, which is north of West Cunningham Drive was closed off due to a "fire incident." Blomenkamp told ABC 17 News at 9:30 p.m. that both roads will be closed for about another hour.
