COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

UPDATE (7/30): The Columbia Fire Department said the house fire in the 1400 block of Fir Place started in a back bedroom. The cause of the blaze is still unclear.

Investigators estimated damages to total $58,000.

ORIGINAL: An assistant fire marshal is investigating the cause of a house fire on Fir Place in Columbia.

The Columbia Fire Department responded to the blaze shortly after 12 a.m. Wednesday.

According to a news release from CFD, one firefighter was evaluated for a minor injury. No one was in the house at the time of the fire.

CFD said they brought the fire under control in around 15 minutes.

Fire officials told ABC 17 News that there was damage to multiple rooms in the home.

The news release said the fire consumed the stairs leading to the basement and extended into the attic space.
