COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A "pressurized release" caused firetrucks to rush to an agriculture building on the University of Missouri campus Tuesday, a Columbia Fire Department spokesperson said.

The call didn't involve a fire, though it came over the radio as an explosion, the spokesperson said at the scene.

An ABC 17 News reporter saw several people outside the agricultural engineering building on Rollins Street, huddling in the shade during the summer heat. Several Columbia Fire Department trucks were parked outside the building along with Columbia police and at least one MU Health Care ambulance.

Some people were being medically evaluated at the scene. One person had minor injuries from inhalation, MU spokesman Christian Basi said. The release happened inside a laboratory.

The building was evacuated.

"All of our safety protocols worked, no one was injured in the evacuation and we're securing the building now so people can get back in there," Basi said.
