Several crime categories down at University of Missouri

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Multiple types of violent crime and drug and alcohol violations were down at the University of Missouri in 2022 from previous years, according to the school's annual safety report.

MU and other universities are required by federal law to publish such reports each year. The 2023 Annual Fire, Safety and Security Report showed that rape dropped from 25 incidents in 2021 to 16 in 2022. Aggravated assaults went from 15 in 2021 to five in 2022, according to the report.

Liquor law arrests were down nearly 100 from 2020 levels at 208. However, drug arrests remained relatively steady with 206 over the course of the year. The vast majority -- 142 -- were on campus.

Domestic violence and stalking also recreated in 2022, according to the report.
