A pipe break inside the Memorial Union caused minimal damage to the building on Thursday.

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A University of Missouri official says a sprinkler pipe burst and caused minimal damage to the Memorial Union.

MU spokesman Christian Basi said Thursday afternoon the sprinkler was located near the east entrance of the building. He said the burst was weather-related and damaged some ceiling tiles and a portion of the floor in the Bengal Lair.

As of Thursday, there was not a damage estimate in dollars available. Crews were able to repair the pipe, Basi said.

Furniture was moved out of one of the lounge areas. High-powered fans had been brought in to dry the floor.
